Hello everyone. I have a finished object!!! My vanilla ribbed socks are off the needles. I will be taking pictures and posting to ravelry. Yeah me. I casted on another pair in Blazing Orange Gradient. 80% merino 20% nylon Dreamland Sock Yarn from Evermore Studios. Love the yarn very soft, the color is gorgeous, just finished the toes, trying to decide what pattern for the foot and leg. These will be for my daughter, she loves orange. I have been looking through the stash to find something to use to make Daybreak by Steven West. This will be my first Steven West project. I am still designing a sock. I am in the charting/drawing process. I hope to start knitting it in the next couple of weeks.
Brought my son to eye doctor yesterday, new contacts for him, bifocals (gasp) for me, new contacts for me also. Could not believe the prices. We can both see now.
L is having a god week. We went to psychiatrist and he was able to stop some meds and increase other. We will have to wait a couple of weeks to see how this new combo works. It was suggested by another mom to try yoga, it helps you learn how to relax an calm your mind. L and I will now be taking yoga classes 3 days a week. I will let you know how it works.
Hope everyone has a great week. Happy Knitting!!

Happy Valentin'e Day
Hope everyone is having a great day. Hubby is cooking a romantic dinner tonight.
B stayed home from school went to Dr. she will be fine.
L had a major meltdown in waiting room. He has has several mood changes today, mostly anger and rude outbursts. He is very defiant today. We go to psychiatrist tomorrow, we may be trying new medication and new coping strategies.
I have had a very challenging day. I am trying not to get angry with L because of his outbursts. The most difficult part is trying to figure out if he is manipulating us to get what he wants,or if he is really having an episode. If any of you out there have any any strategies, please send them my way.
While in Dr.'s office with B, started the heels on the vanilla socks. That is about all that I have worked on in the past couple of days.
I am also working on a sock design. I want to get enough thinks knitted and patterns written and tested so that I can open up and Etsy shop and sell some patterns on Ravelry.
Hope everyone has a great day. Happy knitting

Four Teenagers
Today not only do we have our two children we also have my brothers two. L had a great day, no meltdowns. I think that it helps having others around him.
I have been reading several books on bipolar children. Looks like we have a long road ahead of us, but the outlook is hopeful. L is currently on lomectal, abilify, straterra, geodon and xanax when needed. Like I mentioned today was a great day. Having his cousins around has helped. Teen aged girls are so silly!! I am enjoying listening to them giggle about nothing.
Hubby and I took them out to eat and now the four of them are in the game room watching movies.
I casted on another pair of toe up two at time socks to keep in the car.
B promised to show me how to put up pictures.
One of the lys in my area will be offering spinning classes soon. I think that I will take a few.
I have been listening to a few great podcasts and will mention a few in each post. Today I listened to The Knit Wits, a husband and wife and they are so funny. You should give them a listen.
Have a great night.

Welcome
Hi everyone.
My name is Melissa. I am a knitter, a wife, a kindergarten teacher, a mom of two one of which is bipolar.
I will talk about my knitting and life with a 14 year old daughter and a 12 year old bipolar son.
I will tell you how we discovered that he was bipolar and how we are coping and how it affects our family.
11 months ago my brother went on a camping/fishing trip with two friends, the two friends are alive and well, my brother is missing. Foul play is suspected, nothing has been proved. My brother is/was my son's godfather.
My son started having severe separation anxiety, throwing up, and cutting himself. My husband and I admitted him into a psychiatric hospital. This is when we discovered that he was bipolar. We missed the early signs when he was younger. We thought that he was just a difficult child.
I have taken an extended leave from teaching and am staying home with my son. He is not able to attend regular school at this time as we are still trying to adjust his medication and he is in therapy. So I have tons of knitting time. My knitting keeps me sane.
On my needles: two at a time toe up 2x1 ribbed vanilla socks, a triangle shawl and a scarf. I will post pictures as son as my 14 year old daughter shows me how this is done.
